Duty Manager (Night Shift)

Location: Kampala, Uganda

Job Summary:

Serves as the property Manager on Duty and oversees all property operations during the overnight shift. Ensures that the highest levels of hospitality and service are provided. Represents property management in resolving any guest or property-related situations, personally assisting in resolving issues and completing tasks.

Candidate Profile:

Education and Experience:

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area.

OR

A 4-year degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; with 3–5 years experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related professional area.

Core Work Activities:

Monitoring Property Operations:

  • Ensures compliance with operational guidelines
  • Maintains proper grooming and uniform standards.
  • Promotes a safe working environment.
  • Manages period-end inventories.

Supporting Profitability and Revenue Goals:

  • Reviews operational reports.
  • Resolves guest issues and supports Guest Relations.
  • Monitors chargebacks and implements corrective actions.
  • Oversees cash handling procedures.
  • Works with leadership to prevent recurring issues.

Supporting Human Resources Activities:

  • Promotes safety programs and employee wellbeing.
  • Tracks attendance and manages records.
  • Encourages teamwork and morale.
  • Communicates updates on procedures and standards.
  • Assists with performance management.
  • Ensures knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Supports employee engagement initiatives.
